Let’s Normalize Not HATING People You Politically Disagree With

We are in a very divided time (obviously) and probably in some older generations lifetimes, more divided than ever. It’s a time of change, and even with the pandemic, no one knows what is going to be thrown our way next. Issues and movements aside, one thing we all need to agree on is to NORMALIZE STILL BEING FRIENDS WITH PEOPLE THAT HAVE DIFFERENT POLITICAL VIEWS THAN YOU.

We are in the greatest country of the world because we have the freedom of speech, freedom to organize in public, and speak our minds without fearing for your life that you are being outspoken. That’s the beauty of democracy.

In our Pledge of Allegiance, it is obviously and clearly stated “One nation, under God, indivisible…”

Now lets put this on a smaller scale with friends and family. I’m sure there is a friend or family member in your life that doesn’t agree politically with you. Since the 2016 election, I have openly been a strong, right-wing conservative. I have lost a handful of friends, even some that I never thought I’d lose. Why? Because of politics? You really think that defines a person?

I am friends with many people who disagree with me politically, and the ones I know that are true, keep the relationship. Don’t let these disagreements turn your backs on friends and family. LETS NORMALIZE NOT HATING PEOPLE WHO DISAGREE WITH YOU, and stop dividing our country that is ONE NATION, under God.
